Ingredients:
- 1 can of chickpeas (approx. 240 g drained weight) or 240 g home-cooked chickpeas
- 2 tablespoons tahini (sesame paste)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1-2 garlic cloves (depending on taste)
- juice of 1 lemon
- 1 teaspoon cumin (optional)
- salt to taste
- 2-4 tablespoons cold water (for consistency)
Preparation:
Prepare chickpeas:
If you are using canned chickpeas, rinse them well and drain them. If you are using freshly cooked chickpeas, let them cool slightly.
Garlic and tahini:
Peel the garlic and place it in a blender or food processor along with the tahini.
Mix hummus:
Add the chickpeas, olive oil, lemon juice, cumin and a pinch of salt. Blend until creamy.
Adjust consistency:
Gradually add cold water until the hummus has the desired consistency.
Seasoning:
Taste the hummus and season with more salt or lemon juice if necessary.
Serve:
Pour the hummus into a bowl, drizzle some olive oil over it and garnish with paprika powder, sesame seeds or fresh parsley if desired.
Tip:
Hummus tastes particularly good with fresh bread, vegetable sticks or as a side dish to dishes such as falafel or couscous. Enjoy! 🧄🍋
